The Kenya Meteorological Department reports indicate that heavy rains will continue to be experienced in Coast, Nyanza,Central and Rift Valley provinces. Areas such as, Eldoret Airport, Kisii,Kisumu, Suba, Embu, Dagoretti, Thika, Lamu and Msabaha continue to receive rainfall above 40mm. In Lamu, high rainfall of about 124.9mm has been recorded.
The KRCS is in the process ofdistributing food and NFIs to hundreds affected by landslides and floods in areas such as Moyale, Marakwet East, Nyeri and Murang'a. The interventions have faced challenges such as impassable roads, with KRCS M6 trucks facing a difficult time through rough terrains to some areas.
In Tana River, KRCS is sensitising communities on evacuation and hygiene measures, in case floods hit the area.The Society has established a 24-hour surveillance team at the Emergency Operations Center in Nairobi to monitor the floods situation countrywide.
