Kenya Humanitarian Snapshot (February 2012)

Humanitarian Situation

Conflict in northern districts left thousands displaced and dozens of people killed, including an estimated 21 people in January in Moyale. Delivery of humanitarian assistance was gravely affected with few agencies having access to assess the impact of the conflict and deliver aid. The National Cohesion and Integration Commission stated that the violence in northern Kenya is election-related and requires urgent attention. Other key humanitarian concerns remain food insecurity, the refugee crisis, insecurity in north-eastern Kenya, and election-related activities that are provoking violence.
