Kenya - Floods (UN OCHA, Kenya Met Department) (ECHO Daily Flash of 23 April 2024)

  • The humanitarian impact and the amount of damage is still increasing following heavy rainfall and widespread floods, which have been affecting most parts of Kenya since March.

  • According to UN OCHA, as of 19 April, 32 people died, two are still missing and 25 others have been injured. In addition, almost 103,500 people have been affected and 40,265 have been displaced in 21 out of the 47 counties of Kenya.

  • Relief efforts led by national authorities with the support from humanitarian partners are helping to deliver assistance to 20,590 people.

  • On 23-24 April, moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast over most parts of the country, particularly across the south-western and north-eastern areas.
