The food security situation is fair for the agro- pastoralists, and deteriorated among the pastoral, casual-waged labour and firewood/charcoal zones. This is due to continued closure of livestock markets in fear of recent outbreak of Rift Valley Fever.
The body condition of livestock is good and milk production is expected to increase over April.
Farm preparation and planting is ongoing in agro-pastoral areas.
Rainfall for this season has delayed as compared to a similar period in a normal year.
RECOMMENDATION TO DISTRICT AUTHORITIES/DSG AND NATIONAL KFSG
The EMOP food distributions need to be continued and adjusted as per rainfall performance of this season.
Livestock markets need to be opened and monitoring be done continuously. Closure of the market has contributed to household food insecurity.
Peace building to be continuously carried out.
