Biophysical Indicators

▪ The periods weather was characterized by hot sunny day time with minimal winds at night. ▪ Vegetation had an above normal greenness condition.

▪ Forage availability was above normal in all grazing and expected to last for a period of 1 to 4 months.

▪ Water availability was good in many parts of the county leading to a relatively short distance to watering points.

Socio-economic Indicators (Impact Indicators)

Production Indicators

▪ Body condition of all livestock species ranged from fair to good. Mortality was normal for all livestock species.

▪ Household milk production decreased slightly and expected to decline further in November 2024.

Access Indicators

▪ Household purchasing power remained above the period’s longterm average, attributed to the above normal livestock market price and relatively lower cereals’ market prices.

▪ Household milk consumption remained good due to above average local production.

Utilization Indicators

▪ Proportion of households with poor and borderline food consumption increased slightly due to food access challenges in casual-waged labour livelihood zone.

▪ Rate of malnutrition among children under five years increased slightly. Oldonyiro had the highest rate of malnutrition.
