Biophysical Indicators

▪ Prevailing weather pattern was characterized by sunny days, onset of the cold season with cold nights and strong winds

▪ Vegetation had an above normal greenness condition in all parts of the county.

▪ Forage availability was above normal in all grazing and expected to last for a period of 3 to 6 months.

▪ Water availability was good in many parts of the county leading to a relatively short distance to watering points. Socio Economic Indicators (Impact Indicators)

Production Indicators

▪ Body condition of all livestock species ranged from fair to good. Mortality was normal mainly by predation, slaughter and diseases.

▪ Household milk production increased significantly and expected to stabilize in the month of July to August.

Access Indicators

▪ Household purchasing power remained at an above average rate, attributed to good livestock market price and relatively lower cereal prices.

▪ Household milk consumption increased slightly due to increased in milk production.

Utilization Indicators

▪ Proportion of households with poor and borderline food consumption decreased due to food availability and access in addition to improved milk consumption.

▪ The rate of malnutrition among children under five years decreased slightly during the period under review.
