A grenade explosion outside a mosque injured 11 people in the northern town of Graissa, near the border with Somalia. According to police, the blast comes a day after suspected al Shabab insurgents killed at least 12 people in an ambush in Mandera, in the same Kenyan county.
Kenyan fighter jets in the past days have targeted bases of the Somali insurgents in southern Somalia, for years battling the central government of Mogadishu.
Police spokesman Masoud Mwinyi referred that one of the 11 injured is critical, while the others are out of danger. A second grenade hurled outside the mosque failed to explode. [AdL/BO]
