Four people have died after armed bandits suspected to be from the Pokot community attacked a Turkana village early on Monday morning.

Loima sub-county police division commander Michael Muchiri said a man and a woman from Lorengipi Village in Turkana County were among those killed.

The villagers killed two bandits in retaliation, the officer said.

Speaking from Pokot North sub-county where a crisis meeting was held, the police boss said they were working to restore security on the border separating the two counties.

The village had been put under the watch of police reservists, while a group of police officers were in Turkana North in pursuit of the bandits and the animals they had stolen, he added.

Mr Emugi Logiron, a witness who drove three victims to the Lodwar District Hospital, told journalists the raiders drove away an unknown number of livestock.
