Biophysical Indicators

  • Rainfall: Minimal amount of rainfall were received in the month of February. The rains were poor and erratic.

  • Vegetation condition: Pasture and browse conditions were fairly above normal. The Quality and quantity of both pastures and browse was fairly good.

Socio Economic Indicators (Impact Indicators)

  • Production indicators: Bumper harvest was realized in the two sub-counties. These included maize, beans, green grams and cow peas. The stocks are expected to last up to the next harvesting time.
    Livestock body condition was good in the month with no abnormal cases of migration or death cases reported.

  • Access indicators: Distances to grazing areas and water sources were still with the expected range.

The Terms of Trade remained favorable in the month.

  • Utilization Indicators: Milk consumption rate was fairly good. The number of children under 5 years who are at the risk of malnutrition remained stable at 3.35% of the total sampled out children in the month. Coping strategy index of 1.05 was employed.
