48 Casualties as KRCS Responds in Garissa

Garissa Clashes update as of 2.00pm Tuesday 20th November 2012

At least 48 casualties were attended to at the Garissa Provincial Hospital, one admitted and one life lost. Relative calm and normalcy has been witnessed in the town this afternoon. There in need for urgent referral of three casualties to Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi. The Kenya Red Cross Society team that responded to the situation still on standby and psychosocial support ongoing.

The KRCS team has set up a blood donation area for the public to donate blood for the casualties who have different injuries including gunshot injuries. This morning, KRCS rescued four males, four females and two children, eight of them being gunshot casualties.

The Kenya Red Cross Society teams are still on the ground in Baragoi Samburu, Tana Delta, and Marigat among other areas, which have experienced conflicts in the recent past. The Society is urging all Kenyans embrace peace and sign up to our peace campaign, #ChaguaAmani, through and to walk the talk.
