MAFRAQ, Jordan [ACTED News] – ACTED has been providing children with hygiene promotion sessions in Zaatari Syrian refugee camp, situated in the north of Jordan, since February. ACTED has been conducting two children’s hygiene promotion sessions to an average of 37 children per day since February 2013. These sessions have been taking place in ACTED’s community centres (large tents located throughout Za’atari refugee camp) and comprised drawing and colouring, as well as interactive dialogue with the children, to provide them with simple hygiene messages through games and a participatory approach.

The children’s hygiene promotion sessions form part of a wider hygiene promotion programme running throughout Za’atari refugee camp through UNICEF funding in order to improve Syrian refugees’ hygiene practices and thus reduce the risk of contracting WASH-related diseases.
