September 27 th , 2017 ― Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has completed a humanitarian project for Syrian refugees in Jordan, at a total cost of $100,000 (QR 365,000).

The project comprised two phases, the first of which had previously been completed and involved restoration and maintenance of the residential buildings hosting Syrian refugees, to ensure protection against bad weather in the winter.

The second phase involved distributing vouchers to 1,000 families (5,000 people) to purchase their winterization requirements, such as warm clothes, blankets, or electric heaters.
For this purpose, a retail company was contracted to enable the beneficiaries to collect their needs from its 24 outlets across the country. Some of these outlets are accessible for people with special needs, who constitute 25% of total beneficiaries.

The vouchers were handed over to the recipients as follows: QRCS Jordan office (300 vouchers), Dar Al-Salam Charity Organization in Irbid (200), Nedaa Al-Khair Charity Organization (100), Al-Gharaa Charity Organization (150), and Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (250).

In his remarks, Abdul-Rahman Al-Safadi, Head of QRCS Jordan Office, said, "We are proud of this project. It is fully funded by QRCS. To respect the privacy of the Syrian refugees, the project gives them the opportunity to customize their winterization items of choice, instead of prescribing a standard package of aid. Also, this gives each beneficiary a sense of responsibility for their own family and ability to act just like an ordinary customer. Our approach was to preserve the dignity and feelings of the beneficiaries"
