OPERATIONAL CONTEXT
In response to requests from refugees, UNHCR provides counselling and transportation assistance for those who expressed intention to voluntarily return to Syria. In February, the number of returnees registered with UNHCR decreased by 20 per cent compared to January. Due to cuts in humanitarian assistance and fewer resettlement opportunities, the situation for the most vulnerable refugees, such as those with serious medical conditions and no access to work, has become even more precarious. UNHCR continues to support vulnerable families through basic needs assistance. To ensure qualified refugees have opportunities for capacity development and contributing to their communities, UNHCR jointly with partners works on enhancing employability skills and expanding livelihood prospects for refugees and Jordanians
