Some 5,100 Syrian refugees registered with UNHCR returned to Syria in December 2024. In total, 17,200 men, women and children returned from Jordan to Syria in 2024. This is a significant increase compared to previous months in 2024 and to previous years.

In December, UNHCR distributed $5 million in basic needs cash assistance benefitting some 116,000 individuals in communities. In 2024, some 300,000 refugees received a total of over $61.5 million in cash assistance in camps and communities.

As part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign against Gender-Based Violence, UNHCR, together with partners, organized more than 100 activities in communities and camps for refugees and Jordanians in order to raise awareness.
