OPERATIONAL CONTEXT

To mark World Refugee Day, UNHCR from 19 to 21 June organized a refugee bazaar to showcase talents of refugee and Jordanian artisans and to recognize Jordan’s hospitality and support for refugees.

Due to budget cuts, UNHCR is centralizing registration activities for refugees residing in host communities at the Amman Registration Centre, following the closure of registration centres in Mafraq and Irbid. As part of efforts to streamline the registration process, UNHCR has completed the roll out of self-renewal kiosks which are now available in Amman, Zaatari and Azraq camps.

In June, more than 26,000 Syrian refugees registered with UNHCR returned to Syria. Overall, from 8 December 2024 to 30 June 2025, more than 100,000 Syrian refugees registered with UNHCR returned from Jordan to Syria. UNHCR continues providing transportation to refugees who expressed intention to return. This month, UNHCR organized transportation for more than 1,600 refugees.

The movements were closely coordinated with UNHCR Syria.
