MINISTRY OF PLANNING AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
A Cabinet Decision was issued to allow Syrians to register and operate Home-Based Businesses
During a Ministerial Meeting held November 7, 2018, the Council of Ministers decided the following with regards to Syrian home-based businesses:
• Inside the Syrian Refugee Camps:
It is permitted to undertake work from inside the homes in all sectors including closed occupations.
It is permitted for non-governmental organizations to provide 10C% technical or financial support to Syrian home-based business owners under the Refugees component of the Jordan Response Plan for the Syrian crisis.
• Outside Refugee Camps:
Allow Syrians to operate home-based businesses in the following sectors: food processing, handicrafts and tailoring based on the licensing regulations of home-based businesses professions within Greater Amman Municipality and the Ministry of Municipal Affairs,
Allow Syrians who own and operate home-based or small businesses from home to maintain 100% ownership share without the need for a Jordanian partner only within the following sectors: food processing, handicrafts and tailoring either inside or outside the refugee camps.
Simplify the process to obtain security approvals and reduce the time required to obtain them to no more than 7-10 working days.
Allow non-governmental organizations to provide technical or financial support to Syrian home-based business owners as long as the support is under the host community component of the Jordan Response Plan for the Syrian crisis and with the condition that at least 70% of the beneficiaries are Jordanians while 30% are Syrians.
