Typhoon HINNAMNOR made landfall over the Busan City area (south-eastern Republic of Korea) on 5 September in the evening (UTC) with maximum sustained winds up to 165 km/h. On 6 September at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located between the Korea Strait and the Sea of Japana, with maximum sustained winds of 139 km/h. Media report thousands of evacuated people across southern Republic of Korea, in particular across the Busan City area and the Jeju Island. On 6-7 September, HINNAMNOR is forecast to continue moving northeastward over the Sea of Japan, along the coast of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, weakening. Over the next 24 hours, very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surges are forecast over the whole Korean Peninsula and Kyushu Island (southern Japan). More heavy rainfall is also forecast over the whole Taiwan.
