The number of casualties has increased following heavy rainfall, floods and landslides in south-western Honshu and northern Kyushu Islands since the start of July.

According to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency (FDMA), five people died (of whom two in Fukuoka, one in Saga, one in Yamaguchi, one in Shimane Prefecture), five others are still missing, and 18 persons have been injured. In addition, a total of 56,161 people are still under evacuation orders across the Prefectures of Fukuoka, Saga and Oita, and more than 1,400 buildings have been damaged.

On 11 July, no rain is expected while on 12 July moderate rain is forecast across the affected areas. On 11 July, red warnings for landslides are still in effect over northern Kyushu.
