Additional Relief Supplies from the Russian Federation

  1. On Wednesday, April 6, relief supplies arrived at the Niigata Prefectural Emergency Task Force Headquarters. They were offered in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake by the First Moscow Gymnasium, a private school in Moscow Region, Russian Federation. This school was introduced by the Presidential Executive Office, when Mrs. Svetlana Medvedeva, spouse of the President of Russia, visited the Japanese Embassy in Russia in order to lay flowers and sign the book of condolences on Monday, March 21.

  2. These relief supplies contain blankets, clothes, and bedclothes that were collected by children at the school, as well as pictures and messages from the children to encourage children suffering damage.

  3. These relief supplies were at first delivered to the Japanese Embassy in Russia, and then transferred from Moscow to Niigata Prefecture, Japan, in cooperation with Japan Airlines and Nissin Corporation. These relief supplies are scheduled to be distributed, through Niigata Prefectural Emergency Task Force Headquarters, to the people in Niigata Prefecture evacuated from the stricken areas.
