WHEN: 17 – 18 October 2013

WHERE: Kingston - Jamaica

UN Humanitarian Chief Valerie Amos will visit Jamaica from 17 – 18 October 2013.

The mission is the USG’s first official visit to Jamaica in her role as UN Humanitarian Chief and will focus on strengthening coordination and disaster preparedness.

During her visit, Ms. Amos will attend the Sixth Regional Meeting on International Mechanisms for Humanitarian Assistance (MIAH), the first to be held in the Caribbean region. The meeting will focus on disaster management and humanitarian response, and discuss ways to improve support in the region during emergencies. After the meeting, Ms. Amos is scheduled to hold a press conference.
