JAMAICA - TROPICAL STORM
DHA-GENEVA INFORMATION REPORT NO.1
16 NOVEMBER 1994

1. TROPICAL STORM GORDON CAUSED RAINFALL AND MODERATE TO SEVERE FLOODING.

2. FLOODING AFFECTED PARISHES OF ST. ELIZABETH, CLARENDON, ST.CATHERINE, KINGSTON, ST. THOMAS AND PORTLAND. PARISHES MOST AFFECTED: CLARENDON AND ST. CATHERINE.

3. ROADS HAVE BEEN BLOCKED BY FLOODS AND MUDSLIDES. SHELTERS HAVE BEEN OPENED.

4. GOVT IS PROVIDING RELIEF THROUGH PARISH COORDINATORS. RELIEF ASSISTANCE REQUIRED: BUILDING MATERIAL, HOUSEHOLD UTENSILS AND FUNDS TO CLEAR ROADS AND DRAINING SYSTEM.

5. SO FAR, GOVERNMENT HAS NOT REQUESTED UNDHA TO LAUNCH AN APPEAL FOR INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE.
