Jamaica: Hurricane Dennis - News release #13

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) has received reports of impact arising from Hurricane Dennis from the following areas:
St Catherine - Flooding

1. White Water Meadows

2. Sections of Greater Portmore - 2 North, 2 East, 8 West, beside the Greater Portmore Primary School

3. Sections of Willodene

St Andrew

1. Bridge at Mahoneyvale has been washed away

2. House at Halls Delight collapsed

3. Robersfield Bridge in Mavisbank is impassable

4. Somerset, St Andrew a Landslide is blocking access to the community

Kingston - Flooding

1. Norman Manley Highway is flooded and impassable

2. Sections of Washington Gardens

If your home is threatened by flooding, evacuate early before evacuation routes are cut off. Turn off all electric circuits at the fuse panel or disconnect switch. If this is not possible, turn off or disconnect all electrical appliances before evacuating. The ODPEM is appealing to persons who see imminent signs of flooding in their area, to evacuate early before they are cut off.
