OPT: Destruction of water and waste water infrastructure in Beit Hanoun, Gaza

Repeated land and aerial attacks by the Israeli military on the northern Gazan community of Beit Hanoun during the past two weeks have been the direct cause of the destruction of a large waste water network as well as a major portion of the main water network of the community. The destruction to the waste water network is bringing about the flow of waste water into the streets and in the immediate proximity of the homes of Beit Hanoun. Exposed sewage and waste in such proximity to the popoulation is a serious health risk and a cause of grave concern.

The destruction to the water network, estimated at some $US 50,000, has meant that the southern portion of Beit Hanoun is no longer supplied with water.
