RAMALLAH, Jul 13, 2005 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has accused Israel of not desiring for peace, the al-Ayyam daily reported on Wednesday.
Abbas was quoted as saying that the Israeli government is giving signs that it does not want to achieve a real peace.
"The Israeli government's decision to expedite construction of the separation wall gives us signs and impression that the Israeli government does not want to achieve a real peace," Abbas said.
He said achieving peace should be based on the roadmap peace plan and the international legitimacy, adding that the Israeli decision is a blatant defiance to international resolutions.
Abbas also criticized Israel for imposing siege on the Palestinian territories and continuing military operations. "All these measures are sabotaging efforts we exert to maintain calm."
