JERUSALEM, June 9 (AFP) - The Israeli Supreme Court rejected Thursday petitions by opponents of the Gaza Strip pullout plan contesting the legality of a law which allows for the withdrawal and the compensation of settlers.
Ten of the 11 judges rejected the cases against the evacuation compensation law under which all 8,000 Gaza settlers, as well as the residents of four small Jewish enclaves in the northern West Bank, will be uprooted this summer.
The petitions were brought by hundreds of settlers as well as the owners of businesses in an industrial zone stradling the border between Israel and Gaza which also faces closure.
