Secretary-General meets with Security Council members on candidates for head of UN commission on Iraq
Secretary-General Kofi Annan today met
with members of the Security Council to discuss who would head the newly
created United Nations commission on Iraq, a spokesman for Mr. Annan said
on Tuesday.
Spokesman Fred Eckhard said the Secretary-General had met first with the five Permanent Members of the Council and then with its full membership to discuss candidates for the Executive Chairman of the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission for Iraq (UNMOVIC).

Mr. Annan described the talks as "constructive and helpful" and said he hoped to be able to make an announcement soon, according to his spokesman.
