HALABJA, IRAQ – As Halabja begins a new chapter as an officially recognized province in Iraq, Kurdistan Save the Children (KSC) is reinforcing its commitment to protecting the most vulnerable—its children. Through its Child Protection Program, KSC has launched an ongoing series of targeted training sessions designed to build the capacity of local institutions responsible for child welfare and safety in Halabja and nearby areas.
The campaign focuses on equipping staff from key public departments—under the Directorate of Social Care & Development—with the tools and knowledge needed to uphold children’s rights and respond effectively to cases of abuse, neglect and violence.
Training sessions conducted to date include:
• Autism and Rehabilitation Center for Children with Special Needs – Halabja
Topic: Understanding children’s rights and identifying forms of violence Participants: 19 staff (6 men, 13 women)
• Directorate for Combating Violence Against Women and the Family – Halabja
