Following is the text of a statement
to the press on Iraq by Security Council President Mamady Traoré (Guinea):
The Members of the Security Council welcomed the Secretary General's proposals concerning the emergency humanitarian plan in Iraq and decided that they provide a good working basis.
Council Members agreed on the need to take appropriate measures promptly to deal with the emergency humanitarian situation prevailing in the country.
The Members of the Council decided that a group of experts should meet tomorrow Saturday, 22 March, at 10 a.m., under the auspices of Germany as Chairman of Committee 661, to begin discussions with a view to preparing a draft resolution.
