Appeal history:
- Launched on 12 February 2007 for CHF 10,346,869 (USD 8,338,196 or EUR 6,420,644) for 12 months to assist 50,000 families (300,000 beneficiaries) with relief items and 150,000 beneficiaries in the health sector.
- Final Report is due by the end of April 2008.
- Disaster Relief Emergency Funds (DREF) allocated: N/A.
- Some of the activities (from the 05EA026 appeal) were re-scheduled to be implemented in 2007, i.e. regional warehouse construction in IRCS Baghdad Branch.
Operational Summary:
Tender and procurement of 13,000 family kits (non-food items) and 8,500 first aid kits have been completed. The delivery of these items to the Iraqi Red Crescent Society (IRCS) warehouses is expected to be completed by 20 September 2007. In addition, tender for Baghdad regional warehouse has been completed, and the company bids have been received.
Procurement of first aid kits, training and printing materials are in progress and the procedures related to the in kind donation of 80 mannequins by the Dutch Red Cross are ongoing.
The planning and reporting workshop for branch directors from the 18 Governorates of Iraq and programme management personnel of headquarters has been postponed to September 2007 due to organizational difficulties. The youth and volunteer induction course has been postponed as well, due to similar reasons.
The International Federation undertakes activities that are aligned with its Global Agenda, which sets out four broad goals to meet the Federation's mission to "improve the lives of vulnerable people by mobilizing the power of humanity".

- Reduce the numbers of deaths, injuries and impact from disasters.
- Reduce the number of deaths, illnesses and impact from diseases and public health emergencies.
- Increase local community, civil society and Red Cross Red Crescent capacity to address the most urgent situations of vulnerability.
- Reduce intolerance, discrimination and social exclusion and promote respect for diversity and human dignity.
