Iraq: Orphans in Baghdad Receive Food Aid

View album

For nearly two decades Life for Relief and Development has worked to alleviate the suffering of people around the world, particularly in Iraq, which has endured great bouts of poverty.

Life's biggest ongoing project in Iraq is its Orphan Sponsorship Program. Over 1,000 orphaned boys and girls get regular assistance from Life, thanks sponsors and partners. This assistance is in the form of monthly food deliveries, new clothing, school supplies, healthcare, and vocational training.

In addition to the monthly food assistance that is given to orphans and the families they live with, Life, from time to time, makes special deliveries of food to those who are most in need of charity.

One such special delivery was recently made in Abu Ghraib, a suburban area of Baghdad, where 30 orphans and families received food baskets that included fresh lamb meat, beans, and other food items.

The project, although small in size, brought big smiles to faces of the children, and their relatives, who received these food baskets. It raised their spirits to know that, despite their hardships, they are not alone in the world.
