Violence has been most intense in Anbar Province, where approximately 700,000 people have been displaced by fighting centred on Fallujah and Ramadi. In June, armed groups took control of Iraq’s second city of Mosul, leading to the displacement of over 500,000 people, many of whom fled with few or no resources.
