Iraq: The agony continues ...

In response to the current crisis in Iraq, Islamic Relief staff on the ground in Baghdad, Amman and Damascus, are setting up a support line to assist in efforts to help potential Internally Displaced Persons and to receive the likely influx of refugees in to neighbouring countries.
As in other instances around the world our staff are working selflessly to help alleviate the suffering of ordinary people. Islamic Relief - like all other aid agencies - is always concerned about the safety and security of our staff when exposed to such difficult circumstances and we continue to monitor their safety.

Recently, Islamic Relief has allocated €2 million for Development projects in Iraq and a further €1 million for Emergency Relief Efforts. Today Islamic Relief is launching a €10 million appeal and we urge people to support us in our efforts.

We are desperate to help the people of Iraq. Islamic Relief is planning to provide shelter, food, basic hygiene items and secure access to water initially for up to 10,000 Internally Displaced People inside Iraq. Discussions are also underway with various NGOs to provide a consolidated and integrated response.

Islamic Relief is committed to assisting Iraqis within Iraq as far as possible. However, if the situation arises, Islamic Relief is also geared to manage its emergency response from neighbouring countries.

Islamic Relief has been working in Iraq since 1996, providing relief through annual food distributions and in initiating Health Care Programmes.

As soon as the situation on the ground becomes clearer and our proposed activities take shape, we will contact you directly. In the meantime, if you have any further questions, then please don't hesitate to contact us.
