HIGHLIGHTS
In September 2018, monthly food assistance continued as planned for 48,259 Syrian refugees in the nine Syrian refugee camps in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KR-I): Arbat, Darashakran, Kawergosk, Qushtapa, Basirma, Gawilan, Domiz I, Domiz II and Akre. Currently, a phased joint WFP/UNHCR targeting exercise is underway in the nine camps.
All eligible families received USD 19 per person, per month, in the form of e-vouchers or, in the case of Akre, unrestricted cash, allowing for greater freedom to choose which food items to buy.
The Tech for Food programme brought on board three new cohorts in the four campuses in Mosul, Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Dohuk. In September, 605 students were engaged in trainings, microwork, and freelancing initiatives. The programme aims to help vulnerable people learn skills and generate income to improve their food security.
