KEY FIGURES

  • 79,000 Syrian refugee children of schoolgoing age (3-17 years) in current academic year

  • 29,000 Syrian refugee children currently enrolled in formal education (2017-18 academic year)

  • 50,000 Syrian refugee children not enrolled in formal education for 2017-18 academic year

  • 30 million (13% of total) required for Education 25% received

HIGHLIGHTS

  • According to KR-I MoE, the Syrian MoE will now recognize all students’ certificates (Kurdish or Arabic) issued in Iraq.

  • Back to school interventions began in all refugee locations in September and will continue until the end of the year.

  • In September, 4,900 children benefited from non-formal education programs such as catch-up and remedial classes delivered by education partners.

  • 243 teachers were trained on Education in Emergencies (EiE), life skills, and Psychosocial Support (PSS).

  • Drafting of 3RP strategic document is underway, with partners, including government counterparts, engaged with consultations.
