*MUQDADIYA - Bomb blast kills a woman and injures seven other civilians near the main bus station of this small town, 90 km (50 miles) north east of Baghdad, police said.
*BAGHDAD - The Iraqi Islamic Party said on Wednesday it condemned the kidnapping of a priest called Saad Serob from a church in Doura, a southern district of Baghdad. It was not clear when the cleric was taken, but they said he had just finished delivering a sermon.
BAGHDAD - Two simultaneous car bombs killed at least 13 people and wounded 43 in Baghdad on Wednesday, police said. The attacks took place on Tunis Street, a busy commercial area in central Baghdad.
BAGHDAD - Eight people were killed and 28 wounded when a roadside bomb went off in a flea market besides a highway flyover in eastern Baghdad, police said.
MOSUL - Six insurgents were killed and seven wounded in clashes between them and the police in the northern city of Mosul, 390 km north of Baghdad, police said.
JBALA - Three Iraqi soldiers were killed and four wounded late on Tuesday by a roadside bomb near their patrol in the small town of Jbala, near Mussayab, 60 km south of Baghdad, police said.
BAQUBA - A policeman was killed and three were wounded when a roadside exploded near their patrol in the religiously mixed city of Baquba, 65 km north of Baghdad, police said.
DIWANIYA - Gunmen killed a former member of Saddam Hussein's ousted Baath Party in the southern city of Diwaniya, 180 km south of Baghdad, police said.
BASRA - Armed gangs attacked the city council and governor's office in Basra, Iraq's second largest city, 550 km (340 miles) south of Baghdad, and exchanged fire with Iraqi forces. British armoured vehicles were dispatched to back them up. One policeman killed and five wounded, police said.
KERBALA - Thousands of Iraqi security forces blockaded the southern Shi'ite shrine city of Kerbala to prevent followers of a radical cleric returning after clashes there killed 12 the day before.
BASRA - Yusif al-Mousawi, the general secretary of Tharalla Islamic Party, one of the Shi'ite Islamist parties, escaped an assassination attempt when two roadside bombs went off near his house in Basra, police said.
MUSSAYAB - Gunmen wound two people late on Tuesday when they attacked them in Mussayab, police said.
KUT - Two policemen wounded late on Tuesday by a roadside bomb targeting their patrol near a cemetery in Kut, 170 km southeast of Baghdad, police said.
NEAR HILLA - Gunmen attacked an Iraqi Army check point near Hilla, 100 km south of Baghdad. The soldiers ran off and the attackers stole their weapons, police said.
BAGHDAD - A U.S. general will decide next month whether to court-martial four U.S. soldiers for the rape and murder of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and the killing of her family in March.
