BAGHDAD - A U.S. soldier was killed by indirect fire on Thursday in Diyala province northeast of Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement.

CHARAWA - Rural areas of eastern Iraq in Sulaimaniya province were shelled on Thursday afternoon in an attack that appeared to come from across the border with Iran, according to the mayor of the town of Charawa, Azad Asso. No casualties or damage were reported.

MOSUL - Seven Iraqi soldiers were wounded by a hand grenade in eastern Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

MOSUL - Two people were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded west of Mosul, police said.

MOSUL - Two children were wounded by an improvised explosive device in eastern Mosul, police said.

MOSUL - Four civilians were wounded when Iraqi troops fired shots into the air in eastern Mosul, police said.
