As of April 2025, some 336,487 asylum-seekers and refugees are registered with UNHCR in Iraq (44.1% female and 55.9% male). The majority are Syrian (299,908). Close to 83% of all asylumseekers and refugees in Iraq live in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Of these, some 32% live in nine refugee camps while the majority live in urban areas. Some 56,314 UNHCR registered asylumseekers and refugees live in urban areas in other governorates across Iraq, primarily in Baghdad (64%).
