Azerbaijan: Azeri peacekeepers leave for Iraq
109 Azerbaijani servicemen left for Iraq on Monday to fulfill a peacekeeping mission in the city of Hadida within international coalition forces. They will replace their counterparts who have completed their mission.
The Azerbaijani contingent, which includes officers and 90 private soldiers, will guard a vital hydro-power station in this country, local TV reports say. Under the relevant agreement, the Azeri soldiers will serve within the US armed forces for 6 months.
Azerbaijani military men fulfilling peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan are to be replaced in a few days.
