Jordan and Kuwait Bases Established;
Flights from Turkey Being Negotiated
Warrenton, Va - Air Serv International
is now poised to fly into Iraq from Jordan and Kuwait to provide aviation,
logistical, and communications support to the humanitarian community.
Air Serv, a member of the InterAction Iraq Working Group, has made a commitment to provide these services to non-governmental organizations (NGO), if a humanitarian response is required following military conflict in the region.
Arrangements have been made to launch services from Kuwait City and Amman, Jordan. Negotiations are also underway to fly from Turkey. Air Serv will provide air transport services for NGO's, and United Nations and U.S. Government aid agencies providing assistance to the people of Iraq.
"The people of Jordan and Kuwait have been very cooperative in discussing support of humanitarian aid activities," said Stu Willcuts, president of Air Serv International. "Air Serv is ready."
Air Serv provides basic air transport services for agency personnel, cargo shipping and medical evacuation assistance. The organization is planning to use Beech King Air 200's and possibly a Beech King Air 350 and a Cessna Citation aircraft as needed.
Security is a huge issue in the region for the humanitarian community, as well as the possibility of danger from nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
Air Serv International's mission is to use aircraft and other appropriate technology for relief and development, restoring hope for the suffering. Air Serv provides safe, reliable, and cost effective air transport to humanitarian agencies involved in relief and development activities.
In 18 years, with over 140,000 flights and 16 million miles, Air Serv has never had an aircraft accident or flight-related injury to passengers or crew, although it flies most of its flights in the rough conditions of the developing world. Air Serv pilots average more than 7,000 hours of experience each. The company's schedule reliability is over 98 percent, in part because it prepositions spare parts and conducts an aggressive maintenance program.
