Red Crescent Responds to Nationwide Flood

TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (IRCS) _ Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has provided relief services to over 1,000 affected people during a new wave of rainstorms showering half of the provinces, triggering floods.

During the past 4 days (from October 26), provinces of Lorestan, Mazandaran, Gilan, Golestan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Kermanshah, Kerman, Sistan and Baluchestan, Khuzestan, North Khorasan, Khorasan-e Razavi, Ilam, Ardebil, East Azarbaijan, and West Azarbaijan were affected by heavy rainfalls.

“Relief operations are still continuing in the provinces of Ilam, Mazandaran, and Lorestan,” said Morteza Salimi, head of Relief and Rescue Organization of the Iranian Red Crescent.

Red Crescent has offered relief to 1,172 affected people, and 177 people were sheltered. A large number of emergency supplies such as blankets, nylon plastics, ground sheets, rice, and sugar has been distributed among the victims.

IRCS volunteers pumped water out of 68 homes and 2 cars were recovered from flood route.
