President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), Dr. Abolhassan Faghih visited the earthquake stricken areas of Damghan city on 28 August 2010.

In the course of his visit to three villages of Koohzar, Satveh and Taraoud, Dr. Faghih emphasized on rendering quicker relief services to affected people.

As per Head of IRCS Semnan province, Dr. Mohammad Kazem Omidian, more than 50 affected families have been reached by relief services and 50 relief tents have been established for emergency sheltering in Koohzar village. Furthermore, 50 other relief tents have been placed in storage in the affected area. He went on to say that following 9 aftershocks, people are not determined to return to their houses and prefer to stay in tents.

Dr. Omidian stated that during relief and rescue operation, 10 relief and rescue teams from Shahroud, Semnan and Damghan cities dispatched to the earthquake stricken areas backed by 20 ambulances. He also said that relief & food items such as 75 pieces of moquettes, 100 blankets, 800 tins of canned food and mineral water have been distributed among the affected people.
