Teheran (dpa) - Last week's flood in northern Iran left 34 dead and 15 still missing after more than a week and presumed dead, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported Monday.
More than 100 people were injured and damages caused to various areas was estimated at 15 million dollars.
The flood in Neka in the northern Caspian Sea province of Mazandaran was unprecedented, officials said. Neka, Sari, Behshahr and 59 villages of the Mazandaran province were hit.
Interior Minister Abdolvahed Mussavi-Lari said the government would grant two million rials (6600 dollars) to each flood victim whose home was either damaged or destroyed, and to those who lost family members.
The ministry would also provide over ten million rials (33,000 dollars) in the form of loans for the restoration or construction of homes. dpa fm
