IRAN - FLOODS
UNDRO INFORMATION REPORT NO. 1

SITUATION

1. HEAVY UNPRECEDENTED RAINFALL THROUGHOUT IRAN CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGED IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

- KHORAM ABAD (LURISTAN PROVINCE) 31 VILLAGES CUT OFF, ROADS AND BRIDGES WASHED OFF, 200 HA AGRICULTURAL LAND DAMAGED

- GACHSARAN (KHUZISTAN PROVINCE) ROADS AND BRIDGES WASHED OUT. EXTENSIVE MATERIAL DAMAGE.

- SHAHREZA (ESFAHAN PROVINCE) 13 VILLAGES CUT OFF, 500 HOUSES DAMAGED.

- BOIR AHAMADI AND KOHKILOYE 500 VILLAGES CUT OFF, CITIES OFF DOGONBADAN AND BASHT THREATENED BY HEAVY FLOODS.

- GHASRE SHIRIN AND POL ZAHAB (BAKHTARAN PROVINCE) EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO RURAL AND URBAN AREAS.

- TAFT (YAZD PROVINCE) ROADS CUT OFF AND EXTENSIVE DAMAGE REPORTED.

RELIEF MEASURES

2. IN ALL CASES REGIONAL AUTHORITIES AND RED CRESCENT ORGANIZING RELIEF OPERATIONS. NO REQUEST FOR INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE RECEIVED BY UNDRO/UNDP REPRESENTATIVE AS OF 16 DECEMBER 1991.
