As of 30 March, according to media, 45 people have been reported dead.
A state of emergency has been declared in the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan. A total of nine Iranian provinces, including Khuzestan as well as Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Fars, Golestan, Kermanshah, North Khorasan, Mazandaran, Semnan, and Sistan and Baluchestan, have been affected by the floods.
55 villages have been reportedly evacuated.
Over the next 24 hours, heavy rainfall is expected, leading to large amounts of water moving downstream into Khuzestan province and potentially causing rivers there to overflow their banks. In the region, over the next days, high precipitation affecting the mountainous region between Turkey, Iran and Iraq (Zagros Mountains) are expected.
