Iran - Flash floods (NOAA-CPC, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 27 June 2024)

  • On 24 June, floods in Ardabil Province damaged 48 homes. Temporary tents have been established for the affected.
  • On 25-26 June, heavy rainfall hit Mazandaran province, northern Iran causing a flash flood and resulting in casualties and damage. At least five people are still missing while 24 others were injured. Parts of Savadkuh District and around 30 villages experienced flooding affecting 144 people. 32 emergency teams are participating in the search and rescue operations for the missing and clearance of 100,000 cubic meters of flood borne debris.
  • A red level weather warning - heavy rainfall, thunderstorm and hail - has been issued for Ardabil and Gilan provinces, effective from the afternoon of 26 until the morning of 27 June for Ardabil, and from 26 to 29 June for Gilan. Iran Red Crescent Society issued flood warnings for 11 provinces in the Northwest, North and Northeast from 26 to 29 June.
