The epicenter was located approximately 58 km north-northeast of Kerman city (Kerman province), which has a population of 821 000 people. USGS PAGER indicates shaking up to "Strong" for 1 000 people and up to "Moderate" for 709 000 people. The earthquake was followed by an aftershock of magnitude 5 M at a depth of 10 km at 2.43 UTC.
