Iran - Earthquake (GDACS, USGS, media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 05 December 2024)

  • An earthquake of 5.6 M at a depth of 10 km occurred in the Central district of Shiraz county in Fars province, south-western Iran, on 5 December at 4:02 UTC (7:32 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 37 km south-east of Masjed Soleyman city in the Central District of Masjed Soleyman county, Khuzestan province.
  • USGS PAGER reported that at least 8,000 people were exposed to strong shaking and 264,000 to moderate shaking.
  • According to media reports, as of 5 December, there are no immediate reports of any casualty or damage.
