The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), has determined that external assistance is not required at this moment, and is therefore not seeking funding or other assistance from donors and the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies at this time.
An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale shook Southeast of Bushehr province, Iran on 28 November 2013. As per Tehran University’s Seismological Center, the earthquake hit at 17:22 local time with 65 kilometer from Bushehr province. The town of Borazjan, center of Dshtestan city and surrounding villages are the earthquake stricken places.
According to the IRCS Relief and Rescue Organization 2000 families have settled by the Iranian Red Crescent Relief teams. The latest fact and figures show 7 people are dead and 144 have treated by the IRCS medical teams which 65 of them have been transferred to the hospitals in Bushehr and Dashtestans.
The IRCS has deployed 4 assessment teams, 40 relief and rescue teams as well as 2 emergency shelter teams to the affected areas. The auxiliary provinces of Fars deployed its relief and rescue teams to Bushehr to support the IRCS local relief operations.
The Iranian Red Crescent Society is responsible for the disasters taking place inside the country and its 350 branches are ready to respond to any disaster all over the country.
