TRC has deployed 2 disaster response specialists after the powerful earthquake in Indonesia on 16th November. As of 18 November TRC staff arrived to Gorontalo Town which is the most affected region of the island.
Upon arrival TRC relief team held a meeting with Indonesian Red Cross Society (PMI) and local government authorities. According to the decision taken by parties, TRC will join to response activities in "Sumeleka" which is one of the most affected villages in the region with a population of 4.000.
As remembered, TRC had implemented a huge humanitarian relief operation including several construction and capacity building projects in Indonesia in the aftermath of the tsunami catastrophe which took place in 2004. TRC still runs a community center in Banda Aceh, the most severely hit province of the country by tsunami.
