South Asia: UAE Sheikh donates $1.8 million to tsunami survivors

Abu Dhabi, Indonesia-Relief -- The Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation has entered into an agreement with the Uni Arab Emirat Red Crescent Authority to set up charity projects worth $1.8m for tsunami victims in Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
The agreement signed by Salim Al Dhahiri, general director of Zayed Foundation, and Khalifa Nasir Al Suwaidi,UAE Red Crescent Society Board Chairman.

As reported by AME Info on Monday, the fund will be used to finance construction of two orphanages and health centres in Aceh, as well as orphanage and 20 residential units in Sri Lanka.

Zayed Foundation, or The Zayed Bin Sulthan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, was established in 1992 by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry..

The foundation extends help to the needy at a local, regional and international level.
